Omaha Camera Club
Minutes - December 1, 2009
Omaha Camera Club met at the Omaha Home for Boys, in the Wurdeman Learning Center, 4343 N 52nd St., 6:30 pm. Twenty seven members and guests present.
The Holiday Party is just around the corner. We will meet in the Multi-purpose room - turn right as you come into the building and enter the first door on your right. Mary Ann Wendland has been keeping us organized - if you have forgotten what you signed up to bring - check with Mary Ann. The program for the evening will be "show and tell" with a special DVD from the "Loess Hills Safari Boys".
The Color Munki monitor calibrator has arrived and will soon be available for members to use. The scanner purchase is still in limbo. More information to follow.
Work shops are being organized to begin after the first of the year. Be sure to let your ideas be known - lots of fun "stuff" to learn.
Please keep Paul Evans, Larry Fritz, Lee Fenicle and Don Cross in your thoughts as they all recover from recent medical events. Hurry guys - we need you!
There are 37 prints entered for tonights competition - so - on with the show!

Omaha Camera Club
Minutes - November 17, 2009
Omaha Camera Club met at the Omaha Home for Boys, in the Wurdeman Learning Center, 4343 N 52nd St., 6:30 pm. Twenty eight members and guests present.
The Bluffs Arts Council has been contacted regarding OCC participation in displaying of images either for sale or show. Six club members expressed interest in this opportunity. More information to follow.
As a reminder, Jeff Bane is now handling the smugmug portion of the web site and is ready for club members to send images for posting. This is also a wonderful way to have your work seen.
Druba Chakravarti has volunteered to be club librarian. Thank you Druba.
Paul Evans is recovering from recent heart surgery and Larry Fritz is healing after a fall. Best wishes to both for a very speedy and full recovery.
Reminder - Digital images are due at the December 1st meeting. Either bring them to the meeting or email to Don Cross.
Our Holiday Party is December 15th in the multi purpose room in the Wurdeman Learning Center. Thank you Mary Ann for organizing this event for us.

I am glad to see that members are stepping forward to take an active roll in our club. I welcome Druba Chakravarti as our new Librarian. He will be keeping the various items we have to lend out (magazines, tutorial cd's, etc) and cataloging them. Contact Druba to check out items.

Omaha Camera Club
Minutes - November 3, 2009
Omaha Camera Club met at the Omaha Home for Boys, in the Wurdeman Learning Center, 4343 N 52nd St., 6:30 pm. Thirty one members and guests present.
Gary Prill - Up coming "Photograph Nebraska" symposium - February 26 & 27, 2010. Watch for link to details on our web site.
Questions regarding user licensing have arisen over the use by club members of a monitor calibrator. A motion made by Lee Fenicle, seconded by Larry Quigley; if the user question is resolved in a favorable manner the purchase will be made. Majority vote in favor, with two opposed.
Welcome back Sharon & Mel Mann. Mel has been attending a 20 week photography school in Missoula, Montana. Mel has also volunteered to be PSA and N4C representative for the club. Thanks Mel.

Omaha Camera Club
Minutes - October 27, 2009
Omaha Camera Club met at the Omaha Home for Boys, in the Wurdeman Learning Center, 4343 N 52nd St., 6:30 pm. Twenty eight members and one guest present.
Gary Prill found free image rescue software of the web for both Windows and Mac. It may be found on our web site under the documents and files heading. Thanks Gary.
Lee Fenicle presented a "how to" on depth of field. If you wish to find a detailed chart that is camera specific, go to, dofmaster.com/doftable.html.
Thank you Lee, very informative.
Sandy Wentworth presented a photo dictionary book she produced as an assignment for her K-3rd grade art class. Each student was given five words to convert into digital images; turned in as prints, email or on a digital chip. Sandy ended up with 160 images and a 79 page book. The students had a great time and are looking forward to the next art class assignment. Thanks Sandy.
Gary Prill continued the series - How the club web site works. He also gave us a brief lesson on how to use the layer mask found in Elements 8. Thanks Gary.
Jeff Bane is managing the smugmug galleries for the club. Questions, add images, etc. please contact Jeff. Thanks Jeff.

A new file has been uploaded to provide print labels in document format. This should allow you to download it and take it into a word processor so that you may add your print information before printing the label. Go to Documents and Files to find it.

Omaha Camera Club
Minutes - October 20, 2009
Omaha Camera Club met at the Omaha Home for Boys, in the Wurdeman Learning Center, 4343 N 52nd St., 6:30 pm. Twenty four members present.
On Columbus Day, October 12th, four club members met at 7:30 am for a field trip to western Iowa. They had so much fun that planning for a second field trip are in the works. If interested, let Druba or Gary know.
Holiday party plans are being coordinated by Mary Ann Wendland. It will be held the evening of December 15th, show and tell night. We will also be having a slide show presentation of the Loess Hills Safari. If there is a particular special dish or desert you would like to bring let Mary Ann know. More information to follow.
Tim White suggested that the club consider purchasing a software recovery package. Discussion to follow. Gary indicated that the monitor calibrator purchase has been placed on hold as the equipment is "on back order".
Mark Kresl - Fashion photographer Christian Behr is considering a three to four hour seminar in Omaha sometime in November at an approximate cost of $150.00 per person. If interested in further information, please contact Mark.

The club is in need of a coordinator for PSA and N4C. As the club grows, we might start thinking about entering some contest sponsored by these two organizations. I do not invision a great deal of work involved.
If you are interested in helping out with these club related activities, please let your officers know.

Results from the Douglas County Fair Print Competition
Our own Gary Prill entered 7 prints into competition and received seven ribbons and two best of division. Six were first place ribbons and one was a third place ribbon.
Congratulations Gary . . . Great job!

Omaha Camera Club
Minutes - October 6, 2009
Omaha Camera Club met at the Omaha Home for Boys, in the Wurdeman Learning Center, 4343 N 52nd St., 6:30 pm. Twenty five members and guests present.
As the year 2010 rapidly approaches and The Omaha Home for Boys prepares to celebrate their 90th Birthday - - OCC is planning to present the Home with a digital birthday card. More information to follow on this project.
A vote was taken last night on the purchase of a Spider Monitor Calibrator. Motion to purchase made by Larry Quigley, second by Mark Kresl. All members present voted yes. Gary Prill will see to making the purchase. Purchase of a scanner is placed on hold.
Richard Fiddelke has volunteered to be "Equipment Manager". Thanks Rich.
Gary Prill gave a demonstration on "How to mat prints" quickly, easily and economically. By using paper tape, clear packing tape and stickey thumb tack material you can easily reuse mats again and again with minimal damage and expense. Thanks Gary.
Plans are being made for a Holiday Party - Pot Luck - at our December 15th print night meeting. More information to follow at a later date.
